Ozarks Healthcare Behavioral Health Center to host Community Summer Education Opportunities about Mental and Physical Health

WEST PLAINS, MO – Ozarks Healthcare Behavioral Health Center will host two education opportunities this summer to educate the community about different aspects of physical and mental health. Opportunities include a free, five-session course called “Overall Wellness” and Ozarks Healthcare Behavioral Health Center’s second annual Youth Mental Health Workshop.

Ozarks Healthcare Behavioral Health Center will offer “Overall Wellness,” a free, five-session course recommended for anyone looking to improve their wellness or build the connection between the body, mind, and soul, beginning Thursday, July 1, and continuing on each Thursday through the month of July. Each session will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the West Plains Public Library Community Room located at 750 W. Broadway St. in West Plains. 

This is a free class open to all interested adults. Sessions include: 

  • Week 1: Introduction to Overall Wellness- Connecting Physical and Mental Health
  • Week 2: Building Confidence & Believing in Change
  • Week 3: Making Fitness F.I.T Life
  • Week 4: Clearing Out the Clutter- Identifying Physical & Mental Clutter
  • Week 5: Finding Lasting Motivation 

Participants will have the opportunity to meet other community members and learn skills, tricks, and tips to promote healthy habits throughout the five-session course. 

No pre-registration is needed. Space will be limited due to COVID-19 precautions. Masking will be required at all weekly sessions.

“Overall Wellness” will be presented by Bailey Hutchinson, Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) at Ozarks Healthcare’s Behavioral Health Center. Bailey previously taught and coached at West Plains Middle School before focusing her passion on mental healthcare and education for her community.

Ozarks Healthcare Behavioral Health Center’s second annual Youth Mental Health Workshop

Ozarks Healthcare Behavioral Health Center will host its second annual Youth Mental Health Workshop on Friday, August 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Genesis Church located at 4549 Hwy. 160 in West Plains. This free workshop is designed for those in professional, academic, and/or private settings who work with youth on a regular basis. The workshop will feature keynote speaker Christine Dowell, LPC, and special guest Dr. Jesse Rhoads, child psychiatrist, both from Ozarks Healthcare Behavioral Health Center. The workshop will include admission to the keynote presentation and choice of two breakout sessions:

  • Psychological Abuse: Signs and Resources
  • Introduction to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Non-Mental Health Professionals
  • Difficult Adults: Problem Solving and Rapport Building with Parents
  • Anxiety and Bad Behaviors in Children
  • How Kids Work: Internal vs. External Motivation
  • De-escalation in Youth
