Cabool, MO. – On May 10-11, 2024, the Ozarks Older Iron Club will be holding their Spring show. This event is free and meant for the joy and entertainment of the masses.
The show will start at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, with exhibits of antique and classic cars, trucks, tractors, farm equipment, gas engines, steam engines, and their “Jumbo” steam traction engine. There will also be demonstrations of sawmilling, buzz sawing, barrel stave sawing, shingle sawing, blacksmithing, rock crushing, corn steeling, and chainsaw demos. The tractor-pulling shows on Friday will consist of antique farmstock tractors of 1938 and older and classic farmstock from 1939 to 1959.
On Saturday all the exhibits will still be there for viewing and at noon there will be chainsaw races. All the tractors for the pull on Saturday will be weighed in by 12 and the pull will start at 3. The categories for this will be Classic Non-Farmstock 1959 and older, New Generation 1960 to 30 years old, and Open 30 years and older under 100 HP and 10,000 lbs.
The Ozarks Older Iron Club was started in 1988 and made to help preserve antique engines and tractors. They decided to hold fall shows to showcase the collection of antiques, which were first held at the Heart of the Ozarks Fair Grounds in West Plains. As the group continued to grow and gain members they bought a piece of land to build permanent facilities for their collections. As said before they originally only had fall shows but towards the mid 90’s, the Cabool Chamber of Commerce asked the Ozarks Older Iron Club to join the Spring Farm Fest. Then in 2001 the club purchase 30-plus acres directly west of the chamber’s land where they have held their annual spring and fall shows.
