Dan Williams:
This is Dan with Ozark Radio News and I’m here talking with Amber Carr, who is the guest relations coordinator for OzCon.
Amber Carr:
I am. Hello, Dan, thank you for having me.
Dan Williams:
Oh, well, I’m glad to have you here. We both spoke quite a bit off air about various different things that weren’t necessarily relevant to getting OzCon off the ground so let’s kind of focus on some of the stuff that we want to try to get out here. What are some things that you can kind of tout about the upcoming convention that might draw some people in?
Amber Carr:
Absolutely. I deal with guests. So it is my job to bring in people from all over the United States to have fun at OzCon. They’re mostly voice actors. We have had some TV actors before, like IronE Singleton from Walking Dead we’ve had him at OzCon before. But this year we’re going to have two voice actors and then a big time cosplayer and an anime performer. So he’s going to do covers of anime songs and there’s going to be a concert on Friday night, which is super exciting.
Amber Carr:
So yeah, we’ve got Erica Schroeder who has done 150 voiceovers in TV, film, and video game. Absolutely amazing. Linda Young, who she’s known for Dragon Ball Z, she’s Frieza. I mean, amazing. And the Knightmage, she’s done over 300 cosplays, creations, and he’s award winning for that. And then Kohei Hattori. He is the anime concert performer. And then of course we have other local celebrities as we like to call them from around the area. We have Christine James, who is a local author, and then we have Randy the Magician and we’ve got some podcasters who are geeky cool, and nerd informants. And we also have some guests, AJ and Shpoo, who are getting married at OzCon this year and it’s after the cosplay competition, so everyone’s invited.
Dan Williams:
We spoke about this just a little it too. And I’ve heard about people getting proposed to while at a convention, but not a full wedding.
Amber Carr:
This is a full on wedding guys. This is going to be amazing. And you are invited.
Dan Williams:
That’s a first for me too honestly, and I’ve been to lots of conventions. So I mean, if nothing else, you guys can tout this as being the thing you’ve got.
Amber Carr:
Exactly. And also I’m just really excited for the Friday night concert. It’s going to be amazing. And it’s our first one back in person since the pandemic.
Dan Williams:
That’s going to be a major rubber band effect. I think a lot of people are ready to get back out after being shut inside for so long.
Amber Carr:
And of course we’ll still be safe. Wear masks if you’d like, it’s a safe environment for everybody and we’re just going to have fun.
Dan Williams:
All right, Amber. Well, thank you very much for talking with us about this. Really excited to see it myself. I will be showing up in addition to that, and even running a little event in addition to all of the other stuff going on.
Amber Carr:
Yay. That’s exciting.
Dan Williams:
I know. It is pretty exciting. So we’ll see you there.
Amber Carr:
Awesome. See you there.
