Piney River Brewing Hosting Fun Cornhole Fundraising Event To Support Houston Education Foundation – Join In The Fun!

Houston, MO. – Have you ever wanted to spend a day doing only fun and exciting events that have a plus of being for a good cause? Well here is an exciting event to help you with that dream. The Piney River Brewing Company is hosting a multifaceted event to help support and raise funds for the Houston Education Foundation. This event will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the brewery in Bucyrus.

Board members from the Houston Education Foundation will be at the event for most of the day selling pulled pork plates and raffle tickets. These raffle tickets are for four tickets to the Tournament of Champions and are open to anyone attending. The food sales, as well as, every pint sold at the brewery that day will benefit the local foundation.

This day also consists of a cornhole tournament, which is being sponsored by Country Financial Agent JJ Romines, and is being played inside the main production brewery building. This will also benefit the HEF. Mid MO Baggers from Roby will provide boards and bags for the players. Registration for the tournament begins at 2 p.m. and the event will be open to everyone of all ages, despite being held in a brewery. There will be two divisions of play and this includes competitive and recreational. Team entry fees are $60 for two participants and will include a brat and beverage from Piney River Brewing for both players. The tournament officially starts at 3 p.m. Prizes in the competitive teams consist of $500 for first place, $250 for second place, and $125 for third place. Recreational team prizes will be $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place. 

Live music begins at 5 p.m. and the band playing is Drifters Mile, a Springfield-based bluegrass band. 

Piney River Brewing has a wide variety of beers available including German Road Oktoberfest, the brewery’s fall seasonal lager, which was just released to the public. Andy’s Root Beer is a nonalcoholic option also available.

Houston Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that promotes educational excellence by providing resources and support for the Houston R-1 School District. HEF also awards several scholarships each year to district students. In addition to the sponsorship from Romines, local sponsors of the event include Texas County Memorial Hospital, Shelter Insurance agent Airicka Barnett-Wiseman, Tammy Ramsey Agent with Rob & Stacy Real Estate, Shell Corner Express, and West Plains Bank and Trust.
