WEST PLAINS, Mo. — Polling locations for the upcoming special election in West Plains on November 5 have been announced.
Voters in Howell 1 will vote at the First Church of God in West Plains, Howell 2 voters will vote at the National Guard Armory, and Howell 4 voters will cast their ballots at the West Plains Civic Center.
Voters in Howell 3, who voted at the Howell County Courthouse for the past several years, will now be voting at the West Plains Public Library Community Room. Voters are asked to use the south door entrance off of Cass Ave. and to park in the back parking lot.
The deadline to receive an absentee ballot by mail is Wednesday, October 23. Ballots may be voted in person in the Howell County Clerk’s office until 5 pm Monday, November 4.
The only issue on the ballot in the county will be the fate of the Parkside House in Butler Children’s Park. A “yes” vote on the ballot is to allow the rehabilitation of the home into a STEM-focused discovery center. A “no” vote would be for demolishing the home and installing a splash pad at its location. Both competing proposals also call for other park improvements.
