Poplar Bluff Man Drowns in Current River Near Doniphan

A 32‑year‑old Poplar Bluff man drowned Sunday evening in the Current River, seven miles north of Doniphan. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the incident happened around 7:41 p.m. as the man was swimming downstream.

Witnesses told troopers the swimmer went under the water and never resurfaced. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:54 p.m. by Ripley County Coroner Michael Jackson.
