Power Outage Over the Weekend Caused by Lines Touching

West Plains, MO. – Over the weekend, on Saturday, July 20th, power was knocked out in the City of West Plains over the span of roughly 6 hours. Officials with the City say that this was due to cables touching and being disconnected.

The power outage held a footprint that spanned across the southeastern sections of West Plains, leaving locations such as the Civic Center, the Highschool, and various residences in the dark.

Shayne Eades, the West Plains Utility Director, said that wires touched along the lines, which caused a few of those lines to disconnect, and caused further complications at the Washington Avenue Substation.

No one was hurt, and the lines were safely restored after careful repair work by city crews.
