President of Howell County Farm Bureau Board Presents “Friend of Agriculture Award”

Dusty Collins, President of Howell County Farm Bureau Board is shown presenting to State Representative David Evans the 2021 Missouri Farm Bureau “Friend of Agriculture Award” at the annual meeting.  The Missouri Farm Bureau “Friend of Agriculture Award” has been in existence since 1996 and is a way to recognize state representatives for their support of their county Farm Bureau and Missouri Farm Bureau.  Last year, Representative Evans successfully filed and passed the “Save the Family Farm” bill, which bill provides better legal protections for legacy farms being passed down generation to generation.  This year, Evans drafted language and helped pass part of the 2021

“agriculture bill” first filed in the House and supported by Governor Mike Parson.  The specific language Evans wrote both clarifies and expands the sales tax exemption used by farmers when purchasing farm equipment.  To be selected to receive the Friend of Agriculture Award, representatives must be first nominated by their county farm bureau board and then be selected as having an exceptional voting record on behalf of Missouri farmers over the past two legislative sessions.
