Freezing Temperatures Ahead! Protect Your Pets!
As temperatures plummet in the coming week, please take urgent action to bring your pets inside or provide them with warm, sheltered spaces. The heartbreaking reality is that animals left outside without adequate protection can and will freeze to death. Don’t let yours be one of them!
Local animal shelters and rescues are warning pet owners about the serious dangers of cold weather and how to keep their animals safe. If you have an outdoor dog and prefer not to let them roam inside, consider using a kennel to keep them contained. If bringing them indoors is absolutely not an option, ensure they have an insulated shelter with hay or straw, providing a warm space to burrow into.
Additional cold-weather survival tips:
- Feed them well – A full belly helps generate warmth.
- Ensure access to water – Frozen water bowls can lead to dangerous dehydration almost as quickly as the cold can cause hypothermia.
YOU Are Their Voice!
If you see an animal suffering in the cold without proper shelter, food, or water, report it immediately to your local law enforcement. It is the law that pets must have warm shelter, food, and water in extreme temperatures!
