Red Cross launches Sound the Alarm Campaign

The American Red Cross of Southern Missouri is launching its spring Sound the Alarm Mission Campaign, to ‘sound the alarm’ about the how working smoke alarms save lives.
“We’re asking everyone in Southern Missouri to take a few very simple steps to help save lives in our community by joining with the Red Cross in three simple ways: sign up for a free smoke alarm if you don’t have one, become a Red Cross volunteer or donate financially to help us carry out our important mission,” Stacy Burks, executive director of the Southern Missouri chapter, said. “Ninety percent of our workforce is made up of volunteers, and local donations allow us to do even more smoke alarm installations and educate families, respond to more home fires and disasters across our communities.”
Smoke alarm installations are planned in the southern Missouri area where volunteers will assist in installing free smoke alarms in homes. Anyone needing a smoke alarm throughout these areas are asked to go online to register for an installation at www.getasmokealarm.org or call 417.862.4957.
Opportunities to volunteer/donate: Details for becoming a Red Cross volunteer are online: www.redcross.org. Individuals wishing to support the local Sound the Alarm Mission Campaign may contact the Springfield office at (417) 832-9500 or visit www.redcross.org
