The American Red Cross has announced the closure of its emergency shelter located at the Nevada Community Center in Nevada, MO. The shelter was opened to assist residents displaced by the severe storms and tornadoes that swept through the region on April 2.
With recovery efforts progressing in Nevada, the Red Cross has determined that sheltering services are no longer needed at that location. However, support remains available for those still affected by the storms.
Three Red Cross shelters remain open in Arkansas, including one in Hardy:
- Hardy Shelter
Historic Old Hardy Gym
201 School Ave, Hardy, AR 72542
These shelters continue to provide essentials such as food, water, a safe place to sleep, and access to valuable recovery resources. All Red Cross services are free and open to everyone, regardless of race, religious beliefs, nationality, or citizenship status. Importantly, no identification or proof of residency is required to enter a shelter.
The Red Cross remains focused on meeting the immediate needs of those impacted by disasters and is actively working alongside local officials, emergency responders, and community organizations to ensure those needs are met.
