Regional Warming Shelters open as temps plunge this weekend

Residents seeking warmth during the extremely low temperatures this Friday through Tuesday will have options as the region braces for the sub-freezing temperatures, with forecasts projecting negative wind chills throughout much of the period.

An overnight warming shelter at Rescue Church at 110 6th Street in West Plains opens when temperatures fall below 20 degrees. Arrive between 6 to 9 p.m. to check in.
 
The Martha Vance Samaritan Outreach warming shelter opens when temperatures fall below 15 degrees. Arrive between 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. to check-in.
 

The Willow Springs Senior Center will be open as a warming center as needed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. If there is a need, contact 417-252-1735.

The Reach Center will be open for those in the Mountain Home area until February. It’s located at 2335 E. Arkansas Avenue in Mountain Home. Phone#: 870 706 9992

In Houston, the Storm Shelter located at 1st Street & Pine Street will be serving as a warming center if needed. Dial 417 967 5309 in case of need for accommodation.
