The MO Head Start Association Board of Directors recently recognized Representative David Evans as the MO Head Start Association Children’s Champion for 2021. Each state in Head Start’s federal area of Region VII recognizes an outstanding individual who has gone above and beyond to support children in the state.
Each year, the Association recognizes one individual that is outside of the immediate Head Start community that has made extraordinary efforts supporting early childhood education and the important work of Head Start in the context of family-strengths and the community as a whole and giving special recognition to that individual as a “Missouri Children’s Champion.”
This year, the Association is honored to recognize Representative David Evans as their “Missouri Head Start Children’s Champion” for his exemplary efforts over the last two years. MHSA’s Board is impressed with how responsive Evans has been in promoting added safety measure for children as well as promoting the needs of Head Start programs across the state. Representative Evans states that he is humbled to receive such a prestigious award and will continue to work hard to help build a better future for all children.
Past Children’s Champion recipients have included Senator Roy Blunt, Governor Jay Nixon, and child psychologist Dr. Patsy Carter, to name a few.
