JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – State Representative Bennie Cook is inviting area high school choirs to participate in the 6th Annual Capitol Christmas Choir Program on Wednesday, December 9, 2026, in the First Floor Rotunda of the Missouri State Capitol.
The annual program gives students from across the area an opportunity to perform Christmas music inside the State Capitol. Each participating choir will perform three Christmas carols during the program.
“This is an event I look forward to every year,” Cook said. “It is always great to welcome our students, teachers, and families to the Capitol and hear Christmas music fill the Rotunda. Our schools have some very talented students, and I am proud that we can give them an opportunity to showcase that talent at their State Capitol.”
Cook will be joined by other area State Representatives and State Senators who will help host participating schools and students throughout the day. The area legislators will also help sponsor and provide lunch for the students and school staff participating in the program.
“I appreciate my fellow Representatives and Senators who help make this a special day for our students,” Cook said. “It is a great opportunity for all of us to welcome students from our districts to Jefferson City, visit with them, and show them around their State Capitol.”
The program will be livestreamed again this year so family members and community members who cannot make the trip to Jefferson City can watch the performances.
Following their performance, each choir will have an official group photo taken by the Missouri House photographer. Students and staff will also have the opportunity to tour the Capitol, meet with elected officials, and learn more about state government.
“This is about more than just singing Christmas carols,” Cook said. “It gives our students a chance to visit their Capitol, learn a little more about state government, and represent their school and community. I appreciate our music teachers and school districts for partnering with us each year to make this program a great experience for our students.”
Area high school choirs interested in participating are encouraged to contact Representative Cook’s office. Schools should RSVP by Friday, November 6, 2026.
