Ribbon Cutting for new playground equipment at Butler Children’s Park Aug. 21

West Plains, MO. – The City of West Plains and the Greater West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce announced the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new All-Inclusive Playground at Butler Children’s Park for August 21st at 11:30 a.m.

This project initially started in February 2020 when the city decided to demolish the Butler House that sat in the center of the property. Following the removal of the building that had been the topic of public conversations for years, over the next two years, the city carried out discussions of what to put in the building’s place.

Following the decision of the city council and voting by the public in 2022, an all-inclusive playground was decided to be built on the grounds. In October 2022, work began to prepare the grounds for the new equipment and continued through the winter of 2022 and spring of 2023. While the playground equipment has been in place for a few months now, the finishing touches on the new walking paths through the park have finally been completed.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on the same day that school starts for the West Plains School District, Monday, August 21, 2023.
