West Plains, MO. – One team from Richards Middle School in the West Plains area has managed to compete on a national stage and come out in 6th place in a contest on literal rocket science.
This competition, known as the American Rocketry Challenge, brings in teams from around the country to construct and display their hard work and knowledge on the craft and construction of rocketry.
This ranking team was among almost 800 total teams that began the competition, and their competition took place on May 20th near our nation’s Capital. This was the 6th year that the Richards School District had teams within this contest.
For their placing 6th, the team was awarded $5,000 in scholarship money, and an additional $1,000 to support the purchase of more supplies to compete in next year’s competition.
Competing students were Riley Lilly, Alec Morrison, Tanner Rhys Kerley, Jackson Crosser, Lena Finke, and Lacey Collins.
