Dent and Ripley Counties, MO. – The Salem and Eleven Point Ranger Districts are now letting youth apply for Mark Twain National Forest YCC jobs.
Youth high school students, ages 15 to 18, are now allowed to apply for the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program in the Salem and Doniphan, Mo areas. The applicants are not required to live within those local areas as long as they have the means to be able to get to and from the work site everyday. The applying process is open to everyone with in the age range from now until March 29, 2024. Any of the youth that is selected to join the summer program will be notified by April 5th and told the next steps and processes of job. The job will last from the June 3rd until August 2, 2024. The Youth Conservation Corps program is a paid summer program for both female and male youth under the age of 18. The pay for the program will be $15 an hour, while working a 40 hour work week.
The job entails maintaining and keeping up the campgrounds and trails of Mark Twain National Forest, helping with heritage site management, and improving the habitats of the surrounding wildlife. All the workers are expected to be able to provide their own work boots, proper outdoor clothing, their own lunches, and they must also have their own daily transportation to and from the work site. The youth must be prepared for a physical work environment outdoors in any kind of weather conditions.
