Salem Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in Unfortunate Crash

Salem, MO. – A three-vehicle accident on November 5th has taken the life of a 60-year-old motorcyclist from Salem, MO.

This accident comes about through a series of unfortunate interactions on Highway 19, 4 miles North of Salem.

A Northbound 2014 Chevy Suburban, driven by Vickie Frits, 58 of Salem, slowed down on the roadway to make a turn. The motorcyclist, Dennis Pewitt, struck the slowed vehicle from behind with his 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan and was ejected into the path of a Southbound 2001 Jeep Cherokee driven by Robert White, 23 of Salem.

Pewitt was pronounced deceased at 12:58pm by coroner Ben Pursifull. The other drivers were uninjured in the accident.

This accident was investigated by Trooper J.S. Leathers and MCIU Sergeant J.A. Mulkey of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop I.
