JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Karla Eslinger, R-Wasola, discusses her thoughts on this week’s State of the State address; the latest on COVID-19 vaccinations in Missouri; and Senate Bill 72, which would designate the first full week in September as Fox Trotter Week. Her measure was heard in the Missouri Senate Agriculture, Food Production and Outdoor Resources Committee this week.
Senator Eslinger says she’s hopeful to see COVID liability pass through the Legislature this year.
Transcription: Our small businesses, our schools, all these folks really need to have that protection. That liability protection and thrilled that this is the first bill that gets to his desk also great to hear that Missouri has moved from 21st, 21st, ranking to 11th in the site selectors which means were businesses are looking to invest to come to Missouri. So, we came from 21 to now we’re 11 so that means we’re on the right track and more people are looking at Missouri to invest in to bring their families and to be a part of Missouri.
Senator Eslinger adds the governor mentioned other items during his annual budget address that would be crucial for the 33rd Senatorial District.
Transcription: Another thing that he called was a 5 million dollars to expand and improve Broadband. My ears perked up and I was thrilled to hear it, would love to see you no more than 5 million but that’s a start and will continue to work as an area that we really really need in the 33rd District to be improved at all. So full funding for funding as a foundation for me for Education all those things are important to me and I was thrilled to see was part of his address.
Senator Eslinger also says Missouri is now in the second COVID-19 vaccination phase.
Transcription: There is a great dashboard that you can go look and see. It’s called covidvaccine, all one word covidvaccine.mo.gov it has the latest information. I’ve been told it’s updated very infrequently as to how many people have been vaccinated just so we can get a status and understanding. You can hover over a county and get some real good trend data who’s getting the vaccine, how many vaccines, things like that but just want to let everybody know we know this is important and we’re staying on top of it making sure that folks nut 33rd have access to this vaccine.
Senator Eslinger says Senate Bill 72, which would designate the first full week in September as Fox Trotter Week, was heard in the Missouri Senate Agriculture, Food Production and Outdoor Resources Committee this week.
Transcription: Be able to sit before the committee and presentable and of course it’s my first bill as a senator and one of many I’m sure but we had a chance to present the fox Trotter bill which designates the first full week in September as foxtrotter week in Missouri and it just a reminder buy Fox Trotter is horse a horse and it’s something that were very proud of in the 33rd district and we’re just bringing more awareness to this great breed and making sure that people have opportunity to celebrate with us the first week of September.
