Seventh Prisoner Dies at South Central Correctional Center Within 5 Weeks

West Plains, Mo. – A seventh offender that had been incarcerated at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking died within the last five weeks on Friday. 

The name of the deceased is Demarco Washington. Washington was a 35-year old offender who had been serving a 10-year sentence for 1st Degree endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of 2nd Degree Burglary, and Stealing over $750 from St. Louis County. Washington had been in the Missouri Department of Corrections since September 2019.

Washington was pronounced dead at Cox South Hospital in Springfield at 8:45 p.m. on September 30, 2022. An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death.
