Severe Weather Expected for the Ozarks Today and Into Tonight

Spring storm season in the Ozarks continues and the National Weather Service in Springfield is calling for strong to severe storms today and into this evening.

According to their latest information packet on the upcoming storm, hail is expected to up to golf ball size, and wind gusts of up to 60mph.

As far as the severity of this storm is concerned, those who are in the highest risk are those in a line stretching from northern Douglas and Howell Counties, and most of Oregon County, all placed in the 3/5 “enhanced risk” range. The highest chances for damaging hail exist within mostly northern parts of Texas and Shannon Counties.

In addition, low tornado risks could come along with this storm, limited to the above areas.

The time frame for the major part of this storm is expected to take place between 5pm to 9pm for much of the listening area. The NWS has stated they will be releasing an updated media packet this afternoon.
