Severe Weather Outlook Includes High Heat and Chance of Thunderstorms, NWS Suggests

The National Weather Service in Springfield is reporting dangerously high heat once again. On the bright side, on the horizon stands a forecast including cooler temperatures. The problem is that this lies on the other side of potentially severe weather.

To go into further detail, heat index values for the Ozarks is expected to reach values of 100-109 degrees within a time frame including today and into tomorrow evening.

Tuesday night, heavy rainfall and a low-end chance of severe thunderstorms is expected for much of the area.

Most of the area is simply in a marginal risk range, so the chance of dangerous conditions are at a low 1/5.
