Alley Spring, MO. – The Shannon County Sheriff Steven Hogan made a public safety announcement this morning, asking for drivers to be extra cautious when driving in the vicitnity of Alley Spring today. The announcement can be read below.
Monday, October 19, 2026, Shannon County will welcome student-athletes, coaches, families, and spectators for the Annual Multi-School Shannon County Showdown Cross Country Meet at Alley Spring. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
I want to remind everyone traveling along State Highway 106 and through the Alley Spring area to use extra caution, reduce your speed, and remain alert for increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
Motorists should anticipate traffic congestion and possible complete traffic stoppages within the National Park Service area as participants and spectators arrive and depart.
These young athletes have worked hard to compete, and their safety is everyone’s responsibility.
As your Sheriff, I ask everyone to put their phones down, pay attention to their surroundings, and exercise a little extra patience. A few seconds of distraction behind the wheel can have life-changing consequences.
Let’s show our visiting schools and families the very best of Shannon County while ensuring everyone makes it home safely.
Best of luck to every runner competing! Run hard, give it your all, and make your schools proud!
Your Sheriff,
Steven Hogan
