Baxter County, AR. – The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office recently posted to warn community members of an active scammer in the area.

This individual is impersonating Lieutenant Lee Sanders. They call up community members, pretending to be with the Sheriff’s office, and tell them that they have active warrants or have failed to appear for jury duty and must send money to avoid being arrested.

In the post, the Sheriff’s office wrote, “Nobody from the Sheriff’s Office is making calls of this nature. If you receive such a call, DO NOT provide, verify, or confirm any personal information of any kind. DO NOT send or arrange to send money or purchase money cards or agree to any such transactions. If you are coerced into sending money based upon this scam, you will sustain the loss and it will not be recoverable. We recommend that you immediately HANG UP and do not converse further with the caller.”

Be wary of any unknown numbers and do not give out money without checking their credibility.
