WEST PLAINS, Mo. — The Southern Missouri Builders Association hosted its first Understanding the Journey Home workshop on Saturday, September 19, at OzSBI in West Plains.
The educational workshop was created to help area residents better understand the many decisions involved in buying, building or remodeling a home. Local professionals representing real estate, construction, remodeling, lending, utilities, title services and insurance shared practical information and answered questions throughout the morning.
Presenters included Whitney Frazier of Century 21, builder Steve Bunn, remodeler Lee Jordan, Mindy Trail of West Plains Bank & Trust Company, Myles Smith of Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative, Ashley Matejek of Wiles Abstract & Title, and Haleigh Walker and Cari Perry of InsZone Insurance.
Rather than focusing on a single part of the homeownership process, Understanding the Journey Home was designed to bring several pieces of the process together in one place and give participants access to local professionals who work with those decisions every day.
The Southern Missouri Builders Association thanks the local businesses and organizations that helped make the workshop possible. Event sponsors included Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative, Century 21/Whitney Frazier, Wiles Abstract & Title and Butler Heating & Air.
Door prizes were donated by Ace Hardware, RP Lumber, FNBC Bank, West Plains Bank & Trust Company, Southern Bank, Wood & Huston Bank, Simmons Bank and Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative.
Feedback from participants and presenters is being reviewed as the association considers future educational opportunities for the community.
