A special council meeting was held Monday August 10 in West Plains on Bill 4828 – First reading. An ordinance providing for the levying and collection of a tax for the general revenue fund within the City of West Plains, Missouri for the year 2026, upon all real, personal and mixed property within the corporate limits of the City of West Plains, Missouri subject to taxation.
The public had an opportunity to comment but no one in attendance chose to do so and the approval was unanimous.

It was explained that this is a yearly special meeting and had nothing to do with the recent failed sales tax increase, the timing on Bill 4828 is due to deadlines of printing and submitting the information.
