West Plains, MO. – Six Spectrum Xcellerator starting blocks were installed at the indoor West Plains Civic Center pool by Adams Construction. The blocks were purchased by the Waves Swim Club, a 501(c)3 organization, thanks to the generous support of our local sponsors over the last three years. This project totaled just over $27,000. Adams Construction generously donated their time, equipment, and labor to install the blocks at NO COST.
“We thank the City of West Plains and MSU-WP for their efforts to make this happen for our kids and community! There were a lot of hours of work behind the scenes.” Head Coach Kristi Sheridan commented, “ I am humbled by the generosity of our community and the support of youth sport!”

Starting blocks were needed to practice starts on a regular basis. Our athletes were at a great disadvantage without blocks when racing other swim teams who practice starts daily. Waves Swim Club selected high quality blocks for this project that will last for many years. The Waves and Zizzers swim teams can now host swim meets in West Plains instead of always traveling for competitions. The Zizzer boys swim team hosted their first ever indoor swim meet at the Civic Center on September 22nd, 2022.
The Waves Swim Club is a non profit 501 (c)3 USA swim club which participates as part of the Ozark LSC, competing at sanctioned USA swim meets throughout Missouri & Arkansas. The Waves Swim Club also has a Recreational Summer Program for area swimmers ages 6 to 19 in the month of June. The Summer League participates in non-sanctioned area recreational meets. Registration for summer league begins in May each year. For more information, please view our website at http://www.wavesswimclub.com or visit our Facebook page
