Stolen Vehicle Recovered; Auto Theft and Drug Charges Follow

West Plains, MO. – On June 12th of 2022, at roughly 6:45PM, the Howell County Sheriff’s Office received information from a caller stating that they located a vehicle that was reported as stolen, passing the Fairgrounds in West Plains.

Deputy Hummel responded to the call and was able to find the vehicle, and noted that the vehicle was failing to display registration plates. A traffic stop ensued, and a check on the VIN showed the vehicle was stolen.

It was then that the driver was taken into custody and a search of the vehicle was performed. A backpack was located in the vehicle containing roughly 50 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, and used syringes.

The driver, Michael Roberts, is being held in the Howell County Adult Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
