Structure Fire Leads to Recovery of Stolen Property, Arrest of Two

Mountain View, MO. – A structure fire on April 1st has led to an investigation, the recovery of multiple pieces of stolen property, and the arrest of multiple people.

This began when the structure fire was extinguished and inside was a badly burnt ATV. According to the probable cause statement on the case, the owner claimed the ATV did not belong on the property, and stated that Brandon Murphy, 36 and currently on parole for stealing, had been staying on the property without permission with his girlfriend.

On April 5th, the owner of the ATV was found, who then stated that he was missing several ATV’s, as well as a 24ft bumper-pull camper. The camper had been identified as part of a previous case, and was located on State Route Y in Mountain View. An arrest was made in conjunction with the recovery of the camper, but the identity has not been revealed on this report.

Brandon Murphy was arrested in this case on 3 felony counts of Stealing a Motor Vehicle, and one felony count of Stealing $750 or more.

Investigation is ongoing on the connection of this case to others.
