Ava, MO – A Sunday morning accident has sent an Ava woman to the hospital. The accident occurred at 10 AM on August 1st in Douglas County, six miles north of Good Hope on Highway O. A 2007 Subaru Forester driven by Katie Penn, 25 of Ava, traveled off the right side of the road when Penn overcorrected and caused the Forester to travel off the left side of the roadway and overturn.
Penn sustained moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The three-year old female passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle for medical treatment. The vehicle was totaled. Penn was not wearing her safety device.
