Willow Springs, MO. – The Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce recently announced they are teaming up with the Willow Spring Police Department to host two events for a 50/50 fundraiser. Check-in will be at 5:30 a.m. and the two events will start at 6 a.m. The entry fee for each event is $30, and if you register by June 20th, this includes a t-shirt. All proceeds will go to fund the Willow Springs Police Department and the Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce.

The second event, the Bear City SWAT Challenge, is also held at Palenske Field. The SWAT Challenge is patterned after the physical training that the local SWAT officer has to go through in their training program. It is a timed event with some rest periods intermingled. Each individual entered will be paired with an officer who will advise you of requirements and timing your movements. This officer will also be the judge of any violations. The events will be completed in this order:

  • Active Shooter Sprint – This is a 40-yard dash on the track carrying a 10 lb breaching tool.
  • A 3-minute break
  • Officer Rescue – You will drag a simulated downed officer to safety. The dummy will be 155lbs and the total distance you have to drag it is 15 yards.
  • Equipment Carry – You will have to carry a 25 lb breaching tool a distance of 40 yards.
  • Run – 1/4 mile run on the track.
  • Right here you will have a three-minute break in which time you have to walk, crawl, run, or sprint about 100 yards to the next event.
  • Simulated Obstacle Climb – Complete two weighted pull-ups. You will be wearing a 10 lb vest.

The event will be completed after the last event. During the event, you can be penalized for not putting the equipment down on the designated mat (this will add 30 seconds to your time), Dropping the equipment roughly instead of setting it down gently (this will add 30 seconds to your time), and not finishing. If you do not finish you will be disqualified from the event.

Registration for the events will be available online at wschamber.net for the SWAT Challenge or the 5K I Ran From The Cops event. Payment and entrees can be done entirely online, but you can also stop by the Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce Office at 120 W Main to complete the form and make payment.
