On February 17, 2020 Texas County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Shipp Drive in the Licking area. A female subject reported that James Hawkins was under the influence of drugs and had discharged a firearm and made threats to kill her. The female also reported Hawkins was experiencing hallucinations. Hawkins left the residence prior to arrival of deputies. Hawkins was located by the Licking Police Department, detained and arrested by Texas County deputies.
Texas County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney James Weber charged James H. Hawkins, age 61 of Licking with Domestic Assault 4th degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Hawkins was held in the Texas County Jail pending $200,000 bond.
