Texas County Chase Leads to Tasing and Arrest

Licking, MO. – The Texas County Sheriff’s Office released a report that states that a chase that occurred in the early morning hours of December 15th, ended in the arrest of the driver.

The Texas County Sheriff’s Office was called to respond to an event on Route VV in Licking, where a vehicle fled from a traffic stop from the Dent County Sheriff’s Office. After a patrol, a Texas County Deputy located the vehicle and the chase began.

The suspect drove their vehicle across the center line, with speeds in excess of 86mph. Eventually, the vehicle, a black Honda car, went off the roadway and became immobile.

The driver attempted to flee on foot, and was tased. After being struck by the taser, they then tried to fight the arresting deputy, striking the officer. The driver, identified as Tommy Johnson, 41 of Salem, Mo, was arrested and charged with Resisting Arrest, Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License, and 3rd Degree Assault on a Special Victim.

The passenger was not found.
