Texas County Health Department shifts COVID reporting following AG letter

Houston, Mo. – Last week, a number of county health departments said they would stop all COVID-19-related reporting following a Cole County court case nullifying mask and quarantine orders. Counties that stopped COVID-19 work while waiting on further instruction from state health officials include Dunklin, Laclede, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Scott, and Stoddard counties.

The Texas County Health Department (TCHD) has decided to change how it reports COVID-19 information in response to a letter sent out by the state Attorney General Eric Schmitt. Beginning last Friday, the Health Department has begun to report COVID-19 data in the same format that it reports flu data. The data will show total active cases, total cases in the calendar year, and total deaths from COVID-19 for the year.

TCHD continues to offer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
