Texas County man arrested for sexually abusing children

Houston, MO. – A Texas County man has been arrested for sexually abusing children. James W. Crider, age 76 of Raymondville, is charged with two counts of 1st Degree Sodomy and is being held in the Texas County Jail pending a $500,000 bond.

According to a press release from Texas County Sheriff Scott Lindsey, on March 30, 2023, deputies received a report that two juvenile victims under the age of 8 had been sexually abused. A deputy spoke with the family and made arrangements for a forensic interview with the children at the Child Advocacy Center. On April 7, Crider was interviewed as a suspect based on the information gathered. During the interview, Crider admitted to sexual contact with the children and blamed the contact on the actions of the children.
