West Plains, MO. – A Thayer child was killed after it was struck by a car on Friday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at 2:11 p.m. at a residence on County Road 270 east of Thayer.
Veronica Martin, a 31-year-old Thayer resident, was backing up a Chevy Traverse and struck a 2-year-old boy. The child was taken by Oregon County Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment but succumbed to the injury.

This marks the 14th fatality for MSHP Troop G in 2023, compared to 11 at the same time in 2022.
