The Oregon County Sheriff’s Office has filed a probable cause statement alleging that Ricky Dean Deaton attempted to break into a woman’s room at the Comfort Green Motel on the night of Sept. 20. According to Deputy Shannon Gregory, witnesses reported seeing Deaton banging on the door with his fist, a hammer, and a crowbar while yelling at the occupant. One witness stated he saw Deaton “trying to break the door with a hammer and crowbar” and heard him say he would “get her tomorrow because she has to come out sometime.”
Deputies say Deaton admitted to trying to force entry and identified the hammer and crowbar found outside his apartment as the tools he used. He was arrested on suspicion of second‑degree burglary, possession of burglar’s tools, and peace disturbance.
