MOUNTAIN HOME, AR – Baxter County Library will host the Museum of Discovery’s Diamonds Exhibit from September 10 through November 26. The Diamonds exhibit is a 2,000 sq. ft. exhibition from the Museum of Discovery that takes visitors on a journey from “rocks to riches.” The exhibit experience includes rock and mineral samples, multimedia experiences, computer interactives, and large full-image graphic panels.
The Library will host a series of Diamond Days with speakers, family crafts, and other activities for all ages to enjoy. Celebrate Grandparents’ Day Saturday, September 10, 10 am – 2 pm, and bring your grand (child or parent) to explore and learn together! Some of our fun activities include rock painting, a photo booth, diamond prints, and a diamond dig. At 10:30am, Assistant State Geologist, Angela Cranston, will present on local geology. Plus, bring your favorite rock to have it identified!
On Tuesday, September 27 5:30pm – 7:30pm, join us for various fun activities, including rock painting, diamond string art, and gemstone magnets., Also enjoy a presentation from Crater of Diamonds State Park, followed by questions and answers.
Saturday, October 22, explore and learn as you visit the Diamonds exhibit with your family and friends. The Library will have fun activities, including making pet rocks and egg carton geodes.
Bring your family Saturday, November 19, 2:00pm – 4:00pm, to Minecraft Day. Minecraft-based activities like building, problem-solving, and a Minecraft costume contest!
