The Salvation Army of Springfield Meets $25,000 Match from Bass Pro Shops

SPRINGFIELD, MO (February 5, 2025) – The Salvation Army of Springfield is thrilled to announce that it successfully met the $25,000 matching gift challenge generously donated by Bass Pro Shops. During the week of Dec. 16-23, 2024, the community rallied together, raising $29,301.19 — surpassing the amount needed to secure the match.

These combined funds, totaling $54,301.19 – the $25,000 match from Bass Pro Shops added to the $29,301.19 donated to the red kettles at the Bass Pro Shops locations in Springfield – will directly support The Salvation Army’s local programs, services, and resources, which provide critical assistance to families and individuals in Springfield, Greene County, and Christian County. From emergency shelters and food assistance to childcare and holiday assistance, these contributions ensure that neighbors in need receive the help they require.

Since 2010, Red Kettles at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield have collected $517,434.12 for The Salvation Army’s mission to support the local community. In addition, Bass Pro Shops has donated more than $226,000 in cash and merchandise to The Salvation Army of Springfield since 2013.

“We are deeply grateful for Bass Pro Shops’ incredible generosity and for the unwavering support of our community,” said Major Amos Shiels, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army of Springfield. “This match was a powerful way to multiply the impact of every donation, and we are humbled by the outpouring of kindness during the Christmas season.”

The funds raised during the match challenge will play a vital role in addressing the ongoing challenges faced by vulnerable populations in the region. With the demand for services rising, every dollar makes a meaningful difference.
