Theodosia Signs Law Enforcement Deal With OCSD, To Host Community Picnic

Theodosia, MO. – In the last Village of Theodosia meeting, the board voted to hire the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) to provide law enforcement within the Theodosia city limits. This decision was followed by an official contract signing on September 9, 2024.

The new contract states that the OCSD will enforce state and municipal statutes, as well as the Village ordinance. They will also be required to appear and testify on Village ordinance violations and maintain records concerning activities and arrests within Theodosia’s city limits. Additionally, the OCSD will store a boat for general water patrols, and office space will be provided at Village Hall for their use. Lieutenant Matt Rhoades is required to attend the monthly Village meetings, ensuring a direct line of contact with the community. A similar agreement is in place for Deputy Josh Sherman, who attends Gainesville city meetings where the OCSD also provides law enforcement services.

In celebration of this agreement, the Village of Theodosia is hosting a community picnic at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Village Hall. The event will allow residents to meet officers from the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department. A free hot dog lunch with chips and other refreshments will be provided, and everyone is invited to attend.
