UPDATE: Third person arrested in camper theft

UPDATE: Clint Smotherman was arrested at a residence in Howell County on Feb. 26, in joint operation with the Howell County Sheriff’s Office.

On February 9, 2020 a Texas County deputy responded to a report of a theft on Smith Road in the Hartshorn area. The victim reported a 2019 Mesa Ridge camper valued at $27,500 and contents missing.

On February 16, 2020 a suspect was located in the investigation and interviewed. The suspect admitted involvement in the theft and provided a location where the camper was at in Howell County. Texas County deputies assisted by the Howell County Sheriff’s office located and recovered the camper at the residence on Highway 137 near Willow Springs.

Texas County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jason Macpherson charged Justin P. Christopher, age 26 of Summersville with felony stealing. Christopher was held in the Texas County Jail pending $50,000 bond.

Lynsey Moberly, age 22 of Raymondville is charged with Burglary 1st degree and 2 counts of felony stealing. Moberly was held in the Texas County Jail pending $150,000 bond.

A felony arrest warrant has also been issued for Clint A. Smotherman charging him with Burglary 1st degree and 2 counts of felony stealing. Smotherman is currently a fugitive and anyone having information about his location should call 911 or the Texas County Sheriff’s Office. Smotherman is a 29 year old white male described as 6ft tall, 180 lbs, with a last known address in the Summersville area.
