Houston, MO. – A car vs. UTV crash in Houston has injured three locals on Sunday afternoon, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred 1 mile South of Houston as a 2017 Can-Am Defender UTV, driven by William Schmidt, 82 of Houston, failed to yield to oncoming traffic on Highway 17. They then pulled into the path of a 1999 Ford Taurus being driven by David Martin, 66 of Houston.
The UTV was totaled and William suffered moderate injuries. His passenger, Donna Schmidt, 74 of Houston, was ejected and suffered serious injuries. Neither were wearing a safety device and both were transported by Air Evac to Cox South in Springfield for treatment.
Martin David sustained only minor injuries in the crash.
This accident was investigated by Trooper C.L. Davis of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G.
