Six months after the total solar eclipse occurred in the area, officials with the City of West Plains are burying a time capsule to commemorate the occasion. A ceremony will be held at the Ozark Heritage Welcome Center on Tuesday, October 8, at 11 a.m.
Eclipse souvenirs will be included in the time capsule, along with information about West Plains and how the community celebrated the total solar eclipse. The time capsule is scheduled to be opened in 100 years.
The Ozark Heritage Welcome Center is located at 2999 Porter Wagoner Blvd. in West Plains. Event attendees will receive a commemorative eclipse poster.
