Vanzant, MO. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office recently made an arrest where both firearms and meth were confiscated following a traffic stop and the deployment of a K9 unit.
The traffic stop occurred near Vanzant at the intersection of E. 76 Highway and 95 Highway due to a traffic violation. Known convicted felons Sharon Brown, 66 of Mountain Grove and Donald Reed, 51 of Norwood were found inside with a 5-year-old passenger. A search of the vehicle was performed along with K9 York, and two shotguns were found, which are illegal to be possessed by the pair due to previous convictions. Brown had also produced a zipper case during the search, which contained 80 grams of meth.
Both Brown and Reed are convicted felons due to multiple drug arrests and were booked into the Douglas County Jail on a 24-hour hold. Charges include 2nd Degree Drug Trafficking, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, two counts of Possession of a weapon with Felony Controlled Substance, and endangering the welfare of a child.
