Traffic Stop Due to Obscured License Plate Leads to Drug Arrest

Caulfield, MO. – The Howell County Sheriff’s enacted a traffic stop this past Friday as a result of an obscured license plate, which then led to the discovery of illegal drugs and a subsequent arrest.

At around 10:45pm on the evening of January 24th, Deputy Chancey Hambleton of the Howell County Sheriff’s Office noticed a vehicle travelling down County Road 7830 near Caulfield with an obstructed license plate, causing the deputy to go on alert and investigate.

A traffic stop was initiated. The driver, later identified as Denella Dawn Hensley, 49 of Caulfield, did not have identification. K9 Roman was deployed on-scene and a straw with a crystalline substance was found in the center console that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. A further search revealed other pieces of drug paraphernalia and individual baggies with pills and a similar crystal substance.

Hensley was arrested, and is now facing three felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
