Traffic stop leads to drug arrests

On May 17, 2021 at approximately 9 p.m., Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Hall Street and Hwy 14 in Ava. Contact was made with Jason Boren, 43, of Lebanon, MO and Mindi Willis, 38, of Ava.

Consent to search the vehicle was asked and granted. The deputies discovered and seized Marijuana and Methamphetamine. Both individuals were transported and booked into the Douglas County jail.

Willis was booked on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. A warrant was issued for Mindi Willis for Possession of Controlled Substance a class D Felony, Possession of Controlled Substance a Class D Misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Class D Misdemeanor Bond was set at $500 cash with bond conditions of CPS supervision with twice a week testing.

Boren was booked on five felony warrants: Operated Vehicle On Hwy Without Valid License – 3rd And Subsequent Offense a Class E Felony Bond Set at $20,000.00 Cash Only; Alias Capias FTA Warrant for Operated Vehicle On Hwy Without Valid License – 3rd And Subsequent Offense a Class E Felony, Owner Operator Motor vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility (Motor vehicle Required to be Registered) – 1st Offense a Class D Misdemeanor, Driver/Front Seat Passenger Fail to Wear Properly Adjusted/Fastened Safety Belt an Infraction No Bond; Alias Capias FTA Warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance a class D Felony, Operated Vehicle On Hwy Without Valid License – 3rd And Subsequent Offense a Class E Felony, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Prior Drug Offense a Class A Misdemeanor No Bond; Alias Capias FTA Warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance a class D Felony, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Prior Drug Offense a Class A Misdemeanor No Bond; Alias Capias FTA Warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance a class D Felony, Operated Vehicle On Hwy Without Valid License – 3rd And Subsequent Offense a Class E Felony, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Prior Drug Offense a Class A Misdemeanor, Operating Motor Vehicle Owned by Another Knowing Owner Of Vehicle Has Not Maintained Financial Responsibility a Class D Misdemeanor, Fail to Display Plates on Motor Vehicle/Trailer No Bond.
