Trespassing and Resisting Arrest Charges for Rolla Man in Roby

A Rolla man was arrested Thursday evening after deputies say he returned to two local businesses despite active trespass orders and later resisted efforts to take him into custody.

Sergeant Kenneth Reynolds responded around 5:38 p.m. on June 25 to reports of a trespasser at Waltz General Store and Dollar General in Roby. The suspect, George Koranyi, had already left the area and was found moments later sitting in his vehicle at the Roby Fire Department, according to the probable cause statement.

Reynolds wrote that Koranyi began backing up his vehicle when law enforcement arrived, prompting a firefighter to yell for him to stop. The deputy reported that Koranyi’s vehicle was still in gear with his foot hovering over the gas pedal. Reynolds reached in, placed the vehicle in park, and shut off the ignition.

Koranyi was advised he was under arrest for trespassing but refused multiple commands to exit the vehicle, the report states. Deputies removed him from the vehicle, and Koranyi allegedly pulled away and resisted while wrist restraints were being applied. Deputy Sean Bonner assisted, and officers used a pain‑compliance wrist lock to secure him.

Deputies say Koranyi had returned to both businesses after being formally trespassed days earlier. Staff at Waltz General Store told Reynolds that Koranyi was seen at the gas pumps, directed to leave, then returned a short time later and attempted to enter the store. Dollar General’s manager reported confronting him in the parking lot and reminding him he was not allowed on the property.

Koranyi was booked into the Texas County Jail on two counts of first‑degree trespassing and one count of resisting arrest. His vehicle, which deputies say was blocking the fire station’s access bay, was towed from the scene.

Deputies noted concerns that Koranyi may be a flight risk due to being homeless and a repeat offender who continues returning to the same locations despite prior arrests.
