West Plains, MO. – With up to two inches of rain being reported to have fallen in south-central Missouri, low water crossings are especially dangerous. The Howell County Rural Fire Department responded to two water rescue calls this morning, one on County Road 6420 and the other near the intersection of County Roads 6300 and 6750.
Shortly before 8 a.m., a family in a blue Dodge truck was eastbound on County Road 6300 and attempted to cross a low-water concrete slab that was covered in rushing waters. The water carried the truck off the road, partially submerging the vehicle. The family was able to be rescued and were not injured in the accident.
