Two Alton Minors Injured in Intoxicated Saturday Night Crash

Alton, MO. – On Saturday night, January 21st, two youths from Alton were injured in a one-vehicle crash.

William Pankey, 38 of Alton was the driver of an ’08 Chevy Silverado as he travelled on County Road 127 in the Alton area. At roughly 8:55pm, the Silverado struck a tree and overturned. No one inside the vehicle was buckled in, and one passenger was ejected.

Injured individuals include a 13-year-old male with minor injuries, and one 16-year-old male who suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment.

The driver, Pankey, was found to be intoxicated in the investigation, leading to an arrest and charges including 1.) Felony Driving While Intoxicated, 2.) Careless and Imprudent Driving Involving a Crash, 3.) No Seat Belt, 4.) No Insurance, and 5.) Failure to Secure a Child Less than 16 in a Seat Belt.
