Mountain View, MO. – On Monday, May 1st, a pair of area residents attempted to flee police and were arrested after a 38 minute chase.
This began as Howell County Deputy First Class Millard attempted a traffic stop at roughly 3:50pm on a black Dodge Caravan in Mountain View on Highway 60. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, and continued to drive into Shannon County. They then attempted to escape using several County Roads and State Highways around Birch Tree.
Law Enforcement deployed spike strips in three locations without success. After 38 minutes of the chase, the driver lost control of their vehicle on County Road 461, which caused a rollover crash with the vehicle resting on its wheels.
Both the driver and the passenger were arrested. The driver, Autumn Smith of Ava has received a Felony count of Resisting/Interfering With Arrest For A Felony, and Felony Assault – 2nd Degree – Special Victim. She also had active warrants for traffic violations in Willow Springs.
Passenger Jordan Wilds of Eminence held active arrest warrants in Summersville for Failure to Appear and a Parole Violation.
